EXPERIENCE

In addition to having five children of her own, Heather Karlson has been DONA-trained and recertified multiple times since 2010. In these 15 years, she has supported 400+ births in all settings: hospital, birth center, and homebirths.

Heather has been trained in Spinning Babies multiple times. She is also trained in infant loss and bereavement. Heather received her “Beyond 6 Weeks: The Case for Care in the Postpartum Year” and “Birth Emergencies” training from MEAC (Midwifery Education Accreditation Council). She and her family have been a newborn foster care home for ECFA (Evangelical Child and Family Agency) Wheaton, IL in past years. She has her BS from Hope College, Holland, Michigan (2002) and her Masters Degree from National-Louis Univeristy (M.ED) in Curriculum and Instruction (2005). Heather homeschooled her children up until high school. They are currently 5-19 years old, all born with midwives.
