Prenatal. Birth. Postpartum.
I have been a DONA® Trained Doula for 16 years and have supported 500+ births. I consider it a great honor to be allowed into such a special space. One of my greatest strengths is simply that I am a ‘veteran’ doula- I’ve been serving the Wheaton area/ Chicago suburbs for many years.
I am also a mom of 5 kids, all born with midwives. I homeschooled K-8 for 19 years. I have nursed for 8 cumulative years. If you want to talk about birth, breastfeeding, childhood, or parenting, I probably have “been there!”
I am trained in Spinning Babies, Infant Loss and Bereavement, MEAC (Midwifery Education Accreditation Council) Postpartum Care and Birth Emergencies, and Birth Photography. I also offer doula mentorship to new doulas and teach Childbirth Education.
I believe our bodies are created to birth, and I believe life is a miracle. My heart’s desire is to guide and support you and your family as you grow during these life transitions.
I have been where you are —five times!
I grew up in Minnesota, went to college in Holland, Michigan, and got my Master's Degree here in Illinois. I have been married since 2003. Together, we have 5 children: 3 boys and 2 girls. I live in West Chicago, just west of Wheaton, and I serve families throughout the Chicago suburbs.
My personal birth stories involve 2 hospital births, then 2 home births, and our fifth child was also going to be born at home. Instead, he surprised us with a premature labor, weeks of bed rest, and a premature birth out of state. My husband and I spent 11 days navigating the NICU and relied on the support of many. My birth stories have shaped me both as a mom and doula.
In my spare time, you can find me reading, running, teaching, or traveling.
